I’m doing a new thing! Each month, I am going to read, summarize the key points, and introduce you guys to one amazing, life-changing book. I’d love for you all to join me in the quest for new, mind-stretching information and self-development.
September’s book of the month is The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton!
I have been meaning to get around to this book for years. Why is it so life-changing? I’ll go over the highlights.
Dr. Lipton is a medical professor and biologist who has done extensive research on epigenetics. Epigenetics is the study of how our behaviors and environment physically affect our genes in a non-heritable way.
That being said, it turns out our heritable genes don’t solely determine our destiny. In fact, our environment affects our cells much more than we thought, and thus, affects us. This includes our nutrition, lifestyle, emotions and beliefs.
Some of the most powerful things to influence our cells are our thoughts and beliefs. These are both conscious and unconscious thoughts and beliefs. Whenever we hold a thought or belief, whether we are aware of it or not, our body responds.
In summary, this means we need to pay a lot more attention to what is filling our heads. We have more authority over our body than we’ve thought. We must commit ourselves to letting go of fear and limiting our stress. Fear, negativity, and stress break our body down. Positive thoughts, beliefs, and love builds our body up, literally PHYSICALLY builds our body up and leads to cellular health and vitality.
Many of our emotional patterns and beliefs are established when we are young children observing our parents, as young as infants, so the work to uproot our negative emotions, beliefs and thoughts can require us to dig deep, and be challenging, but oh-so-rewarding.
A good place to start? Journal about or meditate on your emotional and mental health, practice hyponosis for subconscious beliefs, get holistic chiropractic, acupuncture, or other treatments, Neuro-Emotional Technique, Emotional Freedom Technique, see a therapist, the list goes on and on and on!
But just know, according to Dr. Bruce Lipton and a host of other scientists, this emerging research tells us that we have more control over our genes and our health than we know!
